Media Specialist
Part-Time, Contract Position
Location: Remote, with occasional in-person meetings and attendance at events as needed
Position Description
This contracted position will provide administrative and strategic support to the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (the Foundation) Marketing Department’s involvement in all opioid related health communication campaigns. The Media Specialist position would support the management of campaign deliverables such as reviewing website content, media strategy, partner communication, report writing and general project management for the Foundation’s youth-focused fentanyl prevention campaign Deadly Dose and the First Lady of Virginia’s adult-focused fentanyl awareness campaign It Only Takes One Virginia (IOTO). The Media Specialist will ensure that the Foundation’s opioid prevention initiatives complement each other and connect to additional state opioid prevention initiatives including Right Help Right Now, One Pill Can Kill, and more.
This is a contracted wage position that does not include benefits. The selected individual will be an independent contractor (not an employee or agent of the Foundation) responsible for obtaining and maintaining appropriate liability insurance and payment of all applicable taxes and other similar customary requirements of the industry. This position is limited to no more than $50,000 in total compensation for a term of service that concludes September 30, 2025. The anticipated average work hours required per week will be 20-25 hours.
State government experience is preferred, as well as knowledge and expertise in opioid prevention and health communications. This position will report to the VFHY Marketing Strategist.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Website Management (IOTO):
- Content development for the key website pages on https://www.itonlytakesone.virginia.gov/
- NEWS
- EVENTS
- Monthly analytics reporting for IOTO website (i.e. monthly web performance metrics to include total users, web sessions, session durations, traffic source drivers, etc.)
- Form submission management, weekly cleaning of form exports – directing the appropriate communication to contacts collected
- Content development for the key website pages on https://www.itonlytakesone.virginia.gov/
- Meetings Management:
- Scheduling & facilitation
- Recording minutes
- Represent VFHY in stakeholder meetings when appropriate/relevant
- Coordinate campaign calendar of events (MP launches, FLOVA events, etc.)
- Campaign Strategy & Material Development:
- Assist with review of media and website assets
- Assist with design and promotion of IOTO social media toolkit for localities to participate (Community Service Boards)
