In-Person Workshop Description
Address: The National Guard Waller Station, 5001 Waller Road, Richmond VA 23230
This workshop is designed for small groups of participants who are ready to develop their grant submissions. In this course, participants will engage in both independent and collaborative work to organize their proposals effectively. They will learn how to incorporate relevant research, outline their proposals using clear and concise language, and meticulously detail the purpose of their funding requests.
Throughout the course, participants will practice key elements of grant writing, including the development of evaluation components, crafting a budget, and justifying budget requests. The course also includes a peer review process, where participants will give and receive constructive feedback, helping them refine their proposals with input from both their peers and the instructor.
Participants will need their laptops or tablets.
Workshop Instructor
Valerie Liggins Law has 30 years of experience working in the Human Service field in the areas of Juvenile Justice, Behavioral Health and Philanthropy.
A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, with a Masters in Social Work and a Bachelor in Psychology, Valerie currently works as a Program Officer at a place-based Health Legacy Foundation where she has the primary responsibilities of reviewing and managing grants while overseeing special initiatives in the program area of Health and Human Services.
In her spare time as a consultant, she trains both locally and nationally on a number of content areas to include: coalition building, strategic planning, board governance, grant writing and community health needs assessments.
